How to move free-space from the root filesystem to swap, with LVM.
Issue
- Need to add more swap space to the system and have free space in the root filesystem.
- Reduce root filesystem from rescue
- Increase swap logical volume in rescue
- lvreduce, lvextend, mkswap, resize2fs
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5
- Root filesystem and swap space are both backed by a Logical Volume (
LVM).
