virsh reboot command cannot reboot a kvm guest.

Issue

  • virsh reboot command can't reboot a kvm guest. It aborts with the following error messages.

    # virsh reboot guestvm
     error: Failed to reboot domain guestvm
     error: this function is not supported by the hypervisor: virDomainReboot
    
  • Step to Reproduce:

    # virsh start <domain-id>
    
    # virsh reboot <domain-id>
    

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux(RHEL) 5.4 or later

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.0 or later

  • kvm
