"gs" command (ghostscript) may create PDF from which text cannot be extracted
Issue
- We create PDF files from PostScript documents using the
gs
command from ghostscript. The PDF created and is perfectly viewable in any PDF reader like Evince or Acrobat Reader; the problem is when the PDF is converted to text. This can be replicated using thepdftotext
command, which will create garbled text, while before it produced readable data. - Problems with ghostscript after upgrading.
ghostscript-8.70-23
creates a PDF file from which text can't be extracted, whereas the text can be extracted from PDF files created withghostscript-8.70-19
.
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6.7
- ghostscript-8.70-20 or newer version in RHEL 6
