RHEV: When the description field contains characters such as &, RHEV-M generates "error code 5001"

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • While creating a new guest in RHEV-M, if the description of that guest has an "&" in it, an error message is generated:
"Internal RHEVM Error (Error Code: 5001)"

  • In some early versions of RHEV, doing this can cause the VM creation to hang until the task is manually removed and vdsmd is manually restarted.
  • Cannot change the description of an imported virtual machine from a RHEV 2.1 export domain.
