RHEL7.5 outage when ipoib enhanced mode is disabled
Issue
- server is rebooting continuously after patch update
- We encountered same issue when we upgraded to Redhat 7.4 and specific kernel - due to MTU size of 2400 ( Heartbeat network for ORACLE RAC started failing) - and Mellanox provided us details how to change to connected mode - which resolved the issue. We have migrated out from Mellanox drivers to Redhat IB drivers --- until we migrated to New Kernel all was good - when we migrated to new kernel last weekend - we added the parameter for ib_ipoib.conf for MTU to be set to 65000.
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux
- 3.10.0-862.2.3.el7.x86_64
- Infiniband ib_ipoib driver
- options ib_ipoib ipoib_enhanced=0
