Why installation of RHEL6.4 on a remote iSCSI disk hangs while disk formatting with error "attempt to access beyond end of device"?
Issue
- Installation of RHEL6.4 on a remote
iSCSIdisk hangs. - The installation hangs when anaconda installer begins to partition/format the remote
iscsidisk. - The
iSCSIarray being used is10GigArray. - The following Error messages were captured by hitting
Alt+Ctrl+F2
sdc1: rw=513, want=18446744073709549568, limit=1024000
attempt to access beyond end of device
sdc1: rw=513, want=8384512, limit=1024000
attempt to access beyond end of device
sdc1: rw=513, want=18446744073709549568, limit=1024000
attempt to access beyond end of device
sdc1: rw=513, want=8384512, limit=1024000
attempt to access beyond end of device
sdc1: rw=513, want=18446744073709549568, limit=1024000
- This can happen in some scenarios like follows.
- Boot from
iSCSI - OS is installed on local disk, but the data LUN comes from 10GB
iSCSIstorage. - RHEL 6.3 OS is upgraded to RHEL 6.4
- Boot from
