Running "mt status" from two systems to the same tapedrive on SAN returns different results. Why is this?
Issue
We have a tape drive connected to two system via a SAN HBA.
When we issue a mt -f /dev/nst0 status on one system. It'll report differently on the file position on both systems. It seems as if this information is cached on the server. This is not very useful when you use the drives on both systems. Could you please investigate if this is working as expected.
Environment
RHEL4 and RHEL5 with a SAN attached tape drive
