Automount fails to mount NFS share from a NetApp server through "/net/server-name" on RHEL

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Issue

  • Automount fails to mount nfs shares from a specific NetApp filer while trying to access the share via /net/<hostname>/sharename:

    # cd /net/netapp1
-bash: cd: netapp1: No such file or directory

/var/log/messages shows similar messages as below:

Jun 11 11:10:58 server1 automount[19559]: lookup_mount: exports lookup failed for netapp1
Jun 11 11:10:58 server1 automount[19559]: update_negative_cache: key "netapp1" not found in map.
  • The share can be successfully mounted if the mounting was done manually.

  • The problem is specific to one NetApp filer. Shares from other netapp servers can be mounted successfully without any issues. We are still not able to isolate what specific configuration on the NetApp server causes this issue.
