[RHEL6/5] Why does sosreport throw message "one or more processes are in state D"?

Issue

  • Following messages found during executing sosreport(which is included in sos-2.2-/sos-1.7-), why ? ( sosreport in sos-3.2 or later does not show this messages)

    sosreport (version 2.2)

 # sosreport  --diagnose

sosreport (version 1.7)

 # sosreport
    This utility will collect some detailed  information about the
    hardware and  setup of your  Red Hat Enterprise Linux  system.
    The information is collected and an archive is  packaged under
    /tmp, which you can send to a support representative.
    Red Hat will use this information for diagnostic purposes ONLY
    and it will be considered confidential information.
