Unable to ping gateway with bonded NIC's on cluster node on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6

Issue

  • Unable to ping gateway with bonded NIC's on node
  • We have two servers which are in cluster. I can login remotely from node1 to node2 but i can not even ping from ftp2b to ftp1a and even gateway also. Before the node used to failover without any trouble.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL); including
    • Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 5 (with the High Availability or Resilient Storage Add Ons)
    • Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 6 (with the High Availability and Resilient Storage Add Ons)
  • Red Hat High Availability cluster with 2 or more nodes.
  • One of the nodes is unable to ping the other node or the gateway.

    • Network is configured using active-backup (mode1) network bonding.
    • The issue persists through reboots.
