smbcacl: ACL checks fail with "cli_full_connection failed! (NT_STATUS_INVALID_NETWORK_RESPONSE)"

Issue

After updating the samba-client package, smbcacls fails with "cli_full_connection failed! (NT_STATUS_INVALID_NETWORK_RESPONSE)"
Issue also occurs with smbclient program:

# smbclient  -L sambaserver
protocol negotiation failed: NT_STATUS_INVALID_NETWORK_RESPONSE

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7
NetApp Ontap 9.1P3 Cluster Mode
smbcacls and smbclient fails with samba-client-4.7.1-6.el7
smbcacls and smbclient is successful with samba-client-4.6.2-12.el7_4
