Early TCP retransmissions lower than the 200ms minimum RTO
Issue
- Early TCP retransmissions lower than the 200ms minimum RTO
- Why are spurious TCP retransmissions seen quickly?
- Our data send is sliced into 3 packages. We retransmit the third package immediately after about 11ms. Ot's far smaller than
TCP_RTO_MIN ((unsigned)(HZ/5))
which is 200ms. Also this does not comply with TCP Fast Retransmit logic. - Why there is additional retransmission seen at Retransmission Time Out in RHEL?
- What is Tail Loss Probe feature in RHEL?
- Why does retransmission occur much earlier than RTO in RHEL sometimes?
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7
- TCP (Transmission Control Protocol) Layer 4 network transport
