The network interface was re-activated with different IP address in kickstart file in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 installation
Issue
- I'm using a temporary IP address to be specified in boot parameter for
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7installation. - The temporary IP address is used to get the
kickstartfile. - In the
%pre sectionin thekickstartfile, two networkkickstartcommands are generated into a file, and it's included with%include sectioninto thekickstartfile. The generated network commands has a different permanent IP address. NFSrepository is used in my case, and it's allowed to mount with the temporary IP address, not with the permanent IP address.- Our expectation was that the temporary IP address kept to be used during the installation, and it worked with
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.3. - But in
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.5, the network interface was re-activated with a different permanent IP address generated in%pre sectionof thekickstartfile. And, it caused aNFShang problem sinceNFSmount could not survive the reactivation with different IP. - How to make it keep using the temporary IP address until the completion of the installation in
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.5?
