JBWEB000219: Path does not start with a '/' character

Issue

  • When trying to use the request dispatcher, we see an exception like the following:
ERROR [org.apache.catalina.core.ContainerBase.[jboss.web].[default-host].[/helloworld].[jsp]] (http-127.0.0.1:8080-3) JBWEB000236: Servlet.service() for servlet jsp threw exception: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: JBWEB000219: Path index.jsp does not start with a '/' character
    at org.apache.catalina.core.ApplicationContext.getRequestDispatcher(ApplicationContext.java:405) [jbossweb-7.5.24.Final-redhat-1-bz-1491857.jar:7.5.24.Final]
    at org.apache.catalina.core.ApplicationContextFacade.getRequestDispatcher(ApplicationContextFacade.java:209) [jbossweb-7.5.24.Final-redhat-1-bz-1491857.jar:7.5.24.Final]
