Inconsistency between data written to multipath device and read from underlying paths

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

When testing the performance of a multipathed SAN storage array, data written to one device is not updated on the others even through they should all be the same data store.

If data is written to /dev/mapper/mpath1, then read from /dev/sdb, the updated data is not there. Similarly, writing to /dev/sdb and reading from /dev/sdc does not show the updated data.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux
  • device-mapper-multipath
  • SAN storage
