Report does not print on correct printer tray in RHEL 7

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Issue

  • We have an HP printer with 2 trays. We use the Generic PCL 6/PCL XL Printer Foomatic/pxlmono PPD/driver for this printer. If we issue the following command to attempt to print from the Multipurpose tray it still prints from the Default tray. From the Cups error_log we can see that the ghostscript binary gs is called with the option -dMediaPosition=3, but this MediaPosition is not being honoured.
  • HP Printers using the pxlmono driver always draw paper from the default tray.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.4
  • ghostscript 9.07-28
