What is the "hplipfull" package? Is it the same as "hplip" included in RHEL?

Issue

  • While installing package hplip it shows hplipfull. Is it both same?
  • Is the hplipfull software package supported by Red Hat?
  • What is hplipfull?
  • The system in trying to install package "hplipfull-3.16.2-0.x86_64" and its dependences. These new packages are getting conflicts with older version.
  • While trying to install "hplip" package, I receive the following errors:

    # rpm -ivh hplip-3.16.11_rhel-6.0.x86_64.rpm
    error: Failed dependencies:
           libsane.so.1()(64bit) is needed by hplipfull-3.16.11-0.x86_64
    
  • While trying to install an hplip package, I receive the following errors:

    # yum install /tmp/hplip-3.18.12_rhel-6.0.x86_64.rpm
    ...
    error: Failed dependencies:
            libImageProcessor.so()(64-bit) is needed by hplipfull-3.18.12-0.x86_64
            libImageProcessor.so(VERS_1.0)(64-bit) is needed by hplipfull-3.18.12-0.x86_64
    
  • While trying to install HPLIP software, I receive the following errors regarding file conflicts:

    file /usr/share/hplip/data from install of hplip-common-3.15.9-5.el7.x86_64 conflicts with file from package hplipfull-3.19.8-0.x86_64
    file /usr/share/hplip/data/models from install of hplip-common-3.15.9-5.el7.x86_64 conflicts with file from package hplipfull-3.19.8-0.x86_64
    

    Messages like the above may go on for hundreds of lines.
