If I configure persistent storage for OpenShift, do I still need a docker thin pool storage?

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Issue

  • We provisioned docker thin pool storage
  • We also provided an NFS based storage, and linked metrics, logging and registry storage to this volume.
  • Will the individual docker pool volumes on each node be ever used?
  • Is persistent volume common to all nodes or will it just be used by metrics, logging and registry?
  • What's the difference between PV/PVC and thinpool storage?
  • Is docker-storage-setup mandatory?

Environment

  • Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform
    • 3.x
