Multipath service is not starting during the boot even when service is enabled.

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • Multipath service is not starting during the boot even when service is enabled.

    systemd[1]: multipathd.service never wrote its PID file. Failing.  
    systemd[1]: Failed to start Device-Mapper Multipath Device Controller.
    systemd[1]: Unit multipathd.service entered failed state.
    
  • After system bootup, manually starting the multipatd service works fine.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7
    • device-mapper-multipath
