Why am I not able to select bridge (br0 or xenbr0) in virt-manager after running CIS hardening scripts on the system?

After running CIS hardening scripts on the host system, I am not able to select the bridge interface (br0, xenbr0 and etc) in the "Network" -> "Shared Physical device" page while creating a new virtual machine using virt-manager.

VM creation with virsh is not affected.
- This problem is also found while adding additional network interfaces to already created guests.
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.5 (Tikanga) 64-bit
