Why are we unable to set certain module parameters in ixgbe driver?
Issue
- We are not able to set certain parameters for
ixgbedriver. - Running:
# modprobe ixgbe IntMode=0,0 RSS=0,0 MQ=0,0 VMDQ=1,1
- produces the following error:
FATAL: Error inserting ixgbe (/lib/modules/2.6.32-358.el6.x86_64/kernel/drivers/net/ixgbe/ixgbe.ko): Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)
- A grep for
ixgbeindmesgshows:
ixgbe: Unknown parameter `RSS'
- Why are module parameters available in the Intel
e1000e1000eigborixgbeSourceForge driver not available in the RHEL driver?
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
- Intel network interface with
e1000e1000eigborixgbedriver module
