Assistance with Bonding of multiple interfaces to 2 different switches
Issue
- We are trying to bond multiple interfaces in order to obtain additional bandwidth as well as redundancy. The server is an HP DL580 G7 with 4 1GB NIC's. 2 NIC's are connected to one Cisco 3560 switch and the other 2 NIC's connected to another Cisco 3560 switch. The plan is to ether-channel the 2 NIC's going to the switch and replicate that for the other switch. One ether-channel would be active while the other (going to the second switch) would be passive/standby. I have previously bonded 2 interfaces but not worked with a configuration like this so any pointers you can offer would be greatly appreciated.
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.8
- HP DL580 G7 with 4 1GB NIC's
- Cisco 3560 switch and the other 2 NIC's connected to another Cisco 3560 switch
