mkinitrd ignores modprobe.conf is placed under /etc/modprobe.d/ directory.

Issue

  • initrd rebuild does not show any error if /etc/modprobe.conf does not exists and also ignores /etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf.
  • mkinitrd ignores /etc/modprobe.d/*.conf

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5
  • mkinitrd prior to version mkinitrd-5.1.19.6-68.el5_6.1
