Why rstatd fails to start in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5?
Issue
- After starting the service
rstatd, the status is shown as stopped:
[root@dhcp223-56 ~]# service rstatd start
Starting rstat services: [ OK ]
[root@dhcp223-56 ~]# service rstatd status
rpc.rstatd is stopped
[root@dhcp223-56 ~]#
- While trying to start rstatd, it shows following error in
/var/log/messages:
rpc.rstatd[30694]: unable to register (RSTATPROG, RSTATVERS_TIME, udp).
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.x
- rusers-server
