Updating fails with numerous duplicate packages left installed
Issue
- When updating. yum fails and leaves a large number of duplicate packages on the system, and the trasaction cannot be undone or completed
- yum returns "** Found $somenumber pre-existing rpmdb problem(s), 'yum check' output follows:" message followed by numerous lines of references to duplicate packages.
Environment
- Updating Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 and newer
