Systemd not honoring the ordering dependency on auth.socket file during shutdown/reboot

Solution In Progress - Updated -

Issue

  • If an application started from systemd depends on successful connection to
socket activated systemd service, the connections fail. The reason
is that shutdown creates pending job on the socket service and
it refuses all connections from that point, irrespective of dependency
between the application and socket service.

  • One such service is ident/authd service providing RFC 1413 functionality.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux(RHEL) 7
