Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • I have migrated my Satellite 5.6 or 5.7 system to RHSM, and when trying to activate the new certificate with the rhn-satellite-activate command, I receive the following error:
# rhn-satellite-activate --rhn-cert=/path/to/cert.xml
RHN_PARENT: satellite.rhn.redhat.com
Enabling of Satellite repository failed.
Return value: 1
Standard-out: Error: 'rhel-6-server-satellite-5.7-rpms' does not match a valid repository ID. Use "subscription-manager repos --list" to see valid repositories.

Standard-error:

ERROR: Enabling of Satellite repository failed. Is there Satellite subscription attached to this system? Is the version of RHEL and Satellite certificate correct?
