A mainframe running z/OS with all data encoded in ebcdic is planned for migration to x86_64 VM's running Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
By default all data on RHEL x86_64 systems is in ascii . What are the upsides and downsides for keeping data as EBCDIC or convert it to ASCII?
