Problem Printing Headers/Footers with CUPS

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

We need to print a label on the top and bottom of every page or printouts. We found on option page-label that seems to do this. We can run something like this.

# lpr -o page-label=”Unclassified” <file-to-print>.txt

It does print the label at the top and bottom of every page but the problem is the label overlaps some of the contents of the file being printed.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7.3
  • Common Unix Printing System (CUPS) 1.6.3
  • paps-0.6.8-28
  • cups-filters-1.0.35
