Multipath slows down I/O to a disk
Issue
- When issuing buffered I/O to a multipath device with a partition on it, it's much slower than writing to a single path of that multipathed device.
- Writing to a multipath device with a partition is much faster when using direct-io.
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6.x
- Device-mapper multipath device
- Partition on a device-mapper multipath device
