Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • osad is started but the scheduled tasks does not run immediately in clients.

  • When checking the System Details in Satellite Server, the OSA Status of the affected system is shown as offline.

  • Sometimes, osad returns a start OK but there is no process running:

    root@localhost:(/root)#/etc/init.d/osad start
    [ OK ] osad: [ OK ]
    root@localhost:(/root)#ps -ef | grep osa
    root 3615 3574 0 10:25 pts/1 00:00:00 grep osa

  • The following messages are seen when osad service shows as started sucesfully but not running, in debug mode (stopping osad and starting it with osad -vvv), in /var/log/osad:

    jabber_lib.dispatch: Unhandled stanza <iq type='error' id='auth-set-1d7da2-1'><error xmlns = 'jabber:client' code='401' /><query xmlns = 'jabber:iq:auth' ><username>osad-868012da7d</username><resource>osad</resource><digest>96e40c0c4a2dac9524cb08361d812981a1f547dd</digest></query></iq>
