"No space left on device" but df reports free space on my GFS filesystem
Issue
- Zimbra support located many errors like:
2010-03-27 08:10:39,221 ERROR [ZipCopier-mbox1129-0] [] backup - Error reported by FileCopier: No space left on device java.io.IOException: No space left on device at java.io.FileOutputStream.writeBytes(Native Method) at java.io.FileOutputStream.write(FileOutputStream.java:260)
- The "java.io.IOException: No space left on device" seemed strange with a df showing:
# df /mnt/mail Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on /dev/sda 1073145952 950440632 122705320 89% /mnt/mail
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 5 (with the High Availability and Resilient Storage Add Ons)
- Red Hat Cluster Suite cluster with at least 2 nodes
- gfs1 filesystem
- Despite df reporting free space, all the space is taken up by filesystem metadata.
