Why can't I start my Fuse Message Broker/A-MQ?

Issue

I'm unable to start Fuse Message Broker and I see the following warnings in my log:

:02:37,828 | INFO  | rint Extender: 3 | MessageDatabase                  | 66 - org.apache.activemq.activemq-core - 5.5.1.fuse-06-03 | Database /fusesource/data/kahadb/lock is locked... waiting 5 seconds for the database to be unlocked. Reason: java.io.IOException: File '/fusesource/data/kahadb/lock' could not be locked.
