Why does 'sar -x' command throw "Requested activities not available in file" message?

Issue

  • When using the sar(1) command to monitor a process, with the following format
# sar -x <PID>
  • the result obtained is the following error
Requested activities not available in file
  • and the monitorization is not done.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 5
  • The sar and iostat system monitoring commands (sysstat)
