Autofs requires restart after reboot in RHEL7.3 before automount maps provided by sssd are available

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • After upgrading from RHEL 7.2 to RHEL 7.3, users home directories are not available until autofs service is restarted. Automount maps are provided from LDAP via sssd. After reboot, systemctl status autofs shows it is running, but with error "setautomntent: lookup(sss): setautomntent: No such file or directory"

  • Restarting autofs resolves the problem.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.3
