After running security lockdown tasks to my Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 server, I can no longer login as root
Issue
- Performed tasks to make server more secure
- Rebooted system. When trying to log in as root, console just blinks back to the login screen
- Attempting to change the password in single user mode does not help

- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.4
