Why autofs can not set 'exec' option when the 'users' option is used in a NFS mount point?

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • When using autofs to mount a directory that must have exec option, it keeps returning noexec, even when it is explicitly declared:
nfs_server.example.com:/export on /net/export type nfs4 (rw,nosuid,nodev,noexec,relatime,vers=4.0,rsize=131072,wsize=131072,namlen=255,acregmin=0,acregmax=0,acdirmin=0,acdirmax=0,hard,proto=tcp,port=0,timeo=600,retrans=2,sec=sys,clientaddr=10.0.0.2,local_lock=none,addr=10.0.0.1)
  • Manually mounting using users, exec options returns noexec even when using root user.
