Why does the rpc.nfsd command fail to increase the number of nfsd threads on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5, but work on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4?

Solution Verified - Updated -

  • When running the rpc.nfsd 32 command, the number of nfsd threads does not change, and there are errors in /var/log/messages:
#rpc.nfsd 32
#tail -f /var/log/messages
nfsd: nfssvc: Setting version failed: errno 16 (Device or resource busy)
nfsd: nfssvc: unable to bind UDP socket: errno 98 (Address already in use)
