Issue

  • How to preload a particular module(s) automatically in the initrd created when new kernels are installed via yum?

  • For example scsi_dh_rdac will not be added automatically to initrd image due to the bug LTC:201049: mkinitrd support for DM-MP SCSI Hardware Handlers. Currently, the solution is to manually run mkinitrd with --preload option :

mkinitrd -f -v /boot/initrd-custom.img 2.6.18-164.el5 --preload=scsi_dh_rdac

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5
  • mkinitrd
