Having a stonith device that requires unfencing in addition to another that doesn't causes pacemaker to try to unfence both of them on startup in a RHEL 6 or 7 High Availability cluster

Solution In Progress - Updated -

Issue

  • We added a fence_scsi device to our configuration in addition to the power devices we already had. I'm seeing those power-devices being called with 'on' and failing, and then fence_scsi never completes its unfencing as a result.
  • Why is pacemaker trying to unfence all of my devices instead of just the one with provides=unfencing?

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6 or 7 with the High Availability Add-On
  • pacemaker
  • One or more stonith devices with provides=unfencing in its meta attributes
  • One or more stonith devices that does not require unfencing
