How to have file logs for domain server group applications that don't also have log messages written to server.log?

Solution In Progress - Updated -

Issue

  • Using log4j logging in accordance with the knowledge-base article recommendations will allow logging to separate log file but messages still go to server.log. Is there a workaround?

  • We have multiple server groups under the same profile , unique application are hosted on those server groups and now if we configure the log handler under the profile subsystem how could we separate the path for the applications to a unique path while also preventing logging to server.log?

  • We typically have the log4j implementation managed by the development teams because they could dynamically change the logging modes in the run time without any action being taken by middleware team ( application/jvm restart) in case of need during a production issue , now with this change as it will have to be bound to the JBOSS configuration , can we change that property without having to restart the JBOSS?

Environment

  • Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform
