[Satellite6] Uploading packages with hammer is incredibly slow

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Issue

  • Uploading packages using hammer repository upload-content is incredibly slow. We often have to leave batches of packages to upload overnight, particularly when they are large. As an example, a 56 MB package takes 4 minutes to upload into Satellite.

On Sat6.1.7 running on RHEL7.2:

# time hammer repository upload-content --name "repo" --product "product" --path ./seamonkey-2.39-2.el6.x86_64.rpm --organization hubble
Successfully uploaded file 'seamonkey-2.39-2.el6.x86_64.rpm'.
