Upgrading Satellite from 5.2 to 5.3 fails with "User 'rhnsat' does not have the 'ALTER SESSION' privilege"

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • ssl_error.log shows "File does not exist: /var/www/html/rhn"

  • Upgrade script fails with following errors:

    ** Database: Testing database connection. 
Tablespace errors: 
  User 'rhnsat' does not have the 'ALTER SESSION' privilege. 
Issuing rollback() for database handle being DESTROY'd without explicit disconnect().

Environment

  • Satellite 5.2 upgrade to 5.3
  • Satellite previously upgraded from 4.x to 5.x
  • Embedded Oracle database
