UnknownHostException when accessing admin portlets in EPP 4.3 on a machine without internet access

Issue

We are seeing the following errors related to faces-config.xml when accessing the admin portlet:

ERROR [STDERR] org.jboss.portletbridge.util.FacesConfig parse
WARNING: Exception at faces-config.xml parsing
java.net.UnknownHostException: java.sun.com
    at java.net.PlainSocketImpl.connect(PlainSocketImpl.java:177)
    at java.net.SocksSocketImpl.connect(SocksSocketImpl.java:366)
    at java.net.Socket.connect(Socket.java:525)
    at java.net.Socket.connect(Socket.java:475)

Environment

  • JBoss Enterprise Portal Platform (EPP) 4.3 up to CP02
  • No internet access on the machine running EPP
