How to load upstream kernel module for openvswitch in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7?
Issue
- How to upgrade to the latest kernel module for openvswitch?
- Need to replace stock openvswitch module with the 2.5 version, but keep the same kernel.
- Unable to modprobe or load kernel module in
/lib/modules/$kernel/kernel/extra/openvswitch/* - Compiled new openvswitch module and spec file places it in
kernel/extra/*folders, modprobe still always loads default Red Hat Enterprise Linux openvswitch.

- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.2
- Red Hat OpenStack Platform 6.0
- Red Hat OpenStack Platform 7.0
