Use of alternative schedulers within Kubernetes

Solution In Progress - Updated -

Issue

  • The default Kubernetes scheduler is shall we say lacking in functionality, specifically in re-optimising a pod once its launched. There are however 3rd parties producing more feature rich schedulers that act as a plugin, that then reposition Pods (VMTurbo for example).

  • All I'm interested in is a clear statement on if the VMTurbo product is supported by having it act as the orchestration mechanism for Kubernetes in OpenShift, where it will functionally act as the scheduler. It appears it is not- I'm not too concerned about an RFE yet. I just needed a Yes/No so I can further the discussion with the vendor.

Environment

  • Openshift Enterprise 3.1
