Why `dasd_eckd` driver is overwritting the setting of `elevator` parameter in the system z?

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • The I/O scheduler is set to be noop with the help of elevator parameter in /etc/zipl.conf
  • Still the scheduler is shown to be "deadline" in /sys/block/dasdcw/queue/scheduler.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.7
  • Direct Access Storage Device(dasd)
  • Device driver is dasd_eckd for dasd.
