Why do pods/containers started by OpenShift have the option "ndots=5" in their /etc/resolv.conf?

Why did the ndots option sets with the value 5 in the /etc/resolv.conf file of the pods ?
Is it possible to modify the ndots default value at a pod level or cluster level?
