Setting "tmp" option in /etc/crypttab leads to filesystem with improper 0755 permissions
Issue
-
When we use the
tmpoption in the 4th field of/etc/crypttabto have the/tmpfilesystem re-created at boot-time, the permissions are wrong -- the mode on/tmpends up being0755instead of the traditional (and necessary)1777. -
/tmp mode not 1777 when created by crypttab
-
When a server is rebooted, /tmp is recreated and mounted, but its dir mode is 755 and not 1777. Having 755 and not 1777 breaks the normal functions of any Unix server.
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7
- device in
/etc/crypttabwithtmpoption for use with/tmp
