Console becomes blank when the system is manually crashed for testing kdump

Kdump is configured properly however upon issuing "echo c > /proc/sysrq-trigger", the system hangs.

Console becomes blank while testing kdump and even after waiting for 30 minutes, not able to see any output/progress on the console. Reboot is required to bring the server up.
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7
- Systems having huge physical memory (greater than or equal to 1 TB)
